Teacher
With over 15 years teaching experience, pedagogy is at the heart of my career.
My teaching practice started just before graduating from the Royal Northern College of Music, when family friends asked for advice on how to get their children into music. I used my newly acquired knowledge from the Music Education in the community modules to teach them how to play the violin. Shortly after this in 2011, I took on the job of assistant string tutor at Congleton Youth Orchestra, teaching small groups of children how to play violin, viola, cello and double bass. Over the years my practice has gone from strength to strength, I currently teach at two local high schools, conduct various ensembles, organise PULO events across the district, and in 2023 opened my teaching office in Congleton town centre following the closure of Walker's Strings Ltd.
In 2024 I was accepted to study on the Master of Education course at the RNCM. My main research focus will be adult learning and music making, and diversity in music.

Conductor
My interest in conducting started at age 17 when I was invited on a years' conducting course at the junior RNCM with Matthew Wood. Since then I have conducted several different ensembles including the Congleton Youth Orchestra, intermediates and seniors, two adult learner string groups, PULO events and in September 2024 I was appointed the musical director of Biddulph and District Community Orchestra.

Performer
Since starting to play the violin at age 4, music has been my life. From having lessons in my home village of Bosley, to being accepted into the junior department at the RNCM, to graduating with honours from the RNCM on the viola, strings have always been the main focus of my life. During my time at the RNCM, I studied chamber music and now regularly perform in the Balfour String Quartet at weddings and events.
In May of 2024 I was invited to perform with the Phoenix Singers as part of the Phoenix Festival Ensemble.

I have been a guest violist with the Altrincham Concert Orchestra, Northern Baroque Orchestra, Salford Symphony Orchestra amongst many others.
